Getting to the New Yorker Hotel

Located at 481 8th Ave, New York, NY 10001

The New Yorker Hotel is conveniently located near Penn Station, a hub for various transportation lines. In addition to the option of taxis and ride shares, there are various ways to get to the hotel using public transportation.

The MTA is New York City’s main subway system. Lines are sometimes under maintenance. Check the MTA website for updates. Some lines are express and some lines run local depending on the time of day and day of the week.

From LaGuardia Airport - 9.5 miles away

Use the M60 SBS (serving all terminals) for various stops along 125th St in Harlem with connections to lower Manhattan.

  • Example route:
    • Get off at W 125th/Frederick Douglass and transfer to the 125th MTA station. Take the A train (express) or C (all local stops) going to Downtown & Brooklyn. Get off at 34th St-Penn Station. Walk to hotel.

The Q70 LGA Link Bus offers free service to and from LaGuardia Airport’s Terminal B and Terminal C to subway transit hubs Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Avenue (subway lines: E, F, M, R ) and 74 St-Broadway (subway line: 7)

  • Example route:
    • Get off at Roosevelt Ave/74th St, transfer to the Jackson Heights/Roosevelt Ave MTA station and take the E going to the World Trade Center. Get off at 34th St-Penn Station. Walk to hotel.

From JFK Airport - 15.5 miles away

JFK’s AirTrains provide convenient transfers to various MTA and LIRR (Long Island Rail Road) stations. From there you can easily get to Penn Station.

Example Routes:

  • (using MTA): Take the Jamaica AirTrain to Jamaica. Transfer to the Sutphin Blvd Archer Av JFK Airport MTA Station. Take the E line going to the World Trade Center. Get off at 34th St-Penn Station. Walk to hotel.
  • (using LIRR): Take the Jamaica AirTrain to Jamaica. Transfer to the LIRR going to Penn Station. Get off at Penn Station. Walk to hotel.

From Newark Liberty International Airport – 16 miles away

While situated in New Jersey, Newark Liberty International connects conveniently to New York City through the New Jersey Transit rail system.

Example Route:

  • Take the AirTrain Newark P4 and get off at the Newark Liberty International Airport station. Transfer to the NJCL (North Jersey Coast Line) going to Penn Station New York. Get off at New York Penn Station (NOT Newark Penn Station).

Although pricier, CoachUSA also runs buses from each Terminal to Manhattan. For details on booking bus tickets, see their website. It is recommended to get off at Port Authority Bus Terminal and then walk several blocks down to the hotel (0.3 miles).
